Sample Weekly Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrive at Edisto Beach. Stop by Atwood Vacations for keys and directions to your vacation home or villa. Unpack and investigate what your home or villa has available and if you need some additional items or groceries check out the Piggly Wiggly, True Value or the Edistonian. If you don’t feel like cooking after your long day of travel check out any of our great local restaurants and let them do the work today.


Day 2:

Wake up to the sunrise and spend the day getting some summer sun. Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen. Take some time in the afternoon to explore some of the various and unique shops on the beach for that perfect vacation memento.


Day 3:

Spend today checking out the many lesser known activities that are offered here on Edisto. Check out the Edisto Island State Park Interpretive Center to get detailed information on the islands many natural wonders. If you are a history buff stop by the Edisto Island Historical Museum and find out how the island came to be. If you enjoy exploring take a trip to Botany Bay Plantation and visit the grounds (the original plantation ice house is still standing) or the private beach. For those that like to take the longer scenic route book either a guided or personal kayak session and see the island from a different perspective. Make sure that you get some beach time is as well to work on your summer tan.


Day 4:

Another day on the beach. Your tan should bee looking pretty good by now. Today is a great day to plan a family meal that is solely from the Edisto Pantry. There is nothing like fresh Edisto Seafood and Produce. Whether you want to try your luck and bring it home yourself or not there are many options for you to get your hands on some fresh local seafood. Make sure to stop by the area vegetable markets for the best side dishes for your catch of the day. For the adults in the group tonight is a good night to check out the local hotspots for music and entertainment.


Day 5:

Today is a day to take a day trip off the island and see some of the rest of the Low Country. Visit historic Charleston for a fun day of sightseeing or shopping at the Market. Venture over to Walterboro “The front porch to the Low Country” for specialty antique and artisan shops. Beaufort offers great shopping and an insured day of fun for the entire family. For those that want to go a little further Savannah is a great day trip to take. If you don’t want to venture too far check out the ACE Basin State Park or Caw Caw Interpretive Center which are both within 35-40 minutes from Edisto.


Day 6:

Spend today in the sun and put the finishing touches on that tan which will be the envy of your friends and family. For those that want a little more excitement why not book an off shore fishing charter or boat tour with one of the local captains. Whether you want to want to try out sport fishing or just take a quiet tour of the barrier islands there is something for everyone. If you want sport but need dry land book a round of golf at either The Plantation Course or Stono Ferry.


Day 7:

Last chance to make sure you have the perfect vacation tan. Make time to visit the local boutiques again to ensure that you have all gifts for those that missed out on visiting Edisto. Take this last night to treat the family to a great meal out at one of the local restaurants for a great memory. If you prefer a quieter ending to your vacation take a moonlight stroll down the beach and enjoy the serenity.


Day 8:

Wake up and watch the sun rise for a wonderful memory to a great vacation. Remember that the cleaning is on us so don’t fret about getting the house cleaned as you pack up for home. All that we ask from you is that you take out the trash, clean out the refrigerator and wash and put away the dishes. Please depart the home no later than 10AM and stop by Atwood Vacations to return your keys and any comments you may have.
